Candidate Filing

Filing Steps for Candidates:

  • Complete and submit application
  • Receive nomination paper and collect signatures
  • Submit statement and photo for the Digital Voter Guide
  • File nomination paper and submit filing fee



 The County Clerk's Office accepts filings for County, State, and Federal contests, except filings for President must be made with the State Office of Elections.

Candidate Qualifications

To use the online application system, candidates need:

  • Hawai'i Driver’s License or Hawai'i State ID card
  • Social Security Number
  • Printer
  • White 8-1/2” x 11” paper


NOTE: 

Candidates must submit completed nomination papers to the County Clerk's Office by no later than 

June 2, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

  Maui County Council

  • Term: 2 years

(January 2027-2029)

  • Qualifications:
    • Qualified voter of Maui County
    • Resident for a period of 1 year (before filing) in the area of Maui County for which the person seeks to be elected
