About Maui County Voting

By law, mail ballots are not able to be forwarded.  Update your voter information if you've moved or are in temporary housing. 

Visit elections.hawaii.gov or call the Maui County Elections Division at 808-270-7749.

Update Voter Registration
Return envelope for Primary (orange), General (purple) ballots and Outgoing Ballot (pink) envelopes.

Mail-in Voting

Registered voters will receive their ballot by mail approximately 18 days prior to the election. Update your registration if needed.


Options to return your ballot:

  • United States Postal Service Mail
  • Deposit in a Ballotdrop Box


Primary: August 8, 2026

General: November 3, 2026

Ballot Deposit Locations

Voter Certificates

Certificates are provided to prove a person's residency and that they are an active voter.

 A Voter Registration Status Certificate or a Proof of Residency Certificate may be issued to a properly registered voter at the 

Office of the County Clerk, County of Maui, 200 S. High Street Room 708, Wailuku, HI 96793. 


The cost of the certificate is $2.00 and an I.D. will be required at the time of purchase. Please call (808) 270-7749 first to confirm your voter registration status. 

Requesting a Voter Registration Certificate by mail

Submit a letter or email of Request that includes the following:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Residence
  • Last four of Social Security Number
  • Photo of valid, government-issued ID
  • Signature (no digital signatures allowed)


If another person is picking up the Certificate the letter of request should also contain:

  1. Name of the person picking up the certificate
  2. The person picking up certificate needs to provide an ID for verification upon pick-up


If you would like the certificate mailed to you please provide the following:

  1. Check made out to "County of Maui" in the amount of $2.00
  2. A self-addressed envelope with postage

Voter Registration Reports

Hawai'i voter registration data is an electronic file available for purchase, for election purposes only. No phone numbers, birth dates, or Social Security numbers are provided.


Applications are reviewed upon receipt of payment, and a CD with the electronic file is usually ready for pick up at our office, about a week or two after submittal of the application. If you would prefer to have the CD mailed to you, please submit a postage paid envelope.
